As the UK starts to ease its way out of lockdown I’ve been photographing firsts. This is the first shoot I’ve done with a model, Valentin. I spotted him in a bar during the winter and planned to photograph him at the beginning of spring. We had scheduled a shoot for late March, and had to cancel it because of lockdown. Finally last week we were able to meet up on a sunny evening, keeping 2m away from each other, of course.
I asked Valentin to write down a few words about his first photo shoot: “I forgot how packed the sea front can get on a sunny day, all those people around glimpsing for a taste of freedom. It’s with uncertainty about the future that we went out, repeating an old dance we used to take for granted.
